I like the name Olive, Dh likes the name Olivia, and he loves the nickname Liv/Livie (sp?). I say just name the baby girl (phantom baby) Liv, but our last name is one syllable that rhymes with Pink...Liv Pink, too harsh? I really do like the name Olivia, but I see it is ranked pretty low on the name lists. So, my questions are: Is Olivia too popular? Does Liv Pink sound okay?
Re: Olivia - too popular?
Personally, I think Liv is too short to stand on its own, especially with a short LN (I feel you there---we've got a very short one, too!).
I'm also with you---I prefer Olive to Olivia. But if you're going to call her Liv or Livie either way, I don't know that it matters which you go with. If popularity is important to you, I would go with Olive. But if you feel that her NN would most likely set her apart from the one or two ther classmates named Olivia, I would use that.
Olivia is pretty popular (same with the nn Livie, almost all the Olivia's I know go by Livie)
Maybe Olive would be a nice alternative?
I think while Olivia is popular, I think it has already reached it's peak. Most of the Olivias that I know are middle school age, (I only know one Olivia under 3 years old and about 6 who are 13 or 14).
I think Olivia is a beautiful name. I was a nanny for an Olivia who we called Livie and sometimes "Liv Love"
