What about some version of Finn? I also like Darragh, Declan, Donncha, but since both of our names start with D, I self veto. Eamon might be nice, depending on your IL's views on DeValera. Ciaran and Ronan are nice. I'm also partial to Oisin.
Girls: Brigid, Fionnoula, Davina, Nola, Mairead, Orla, Siobhan, Niamh (Neave).
Really? I love it. We considered it for Jillian. I was going to throw it out to you. Also, I must think you're having a girl because I didn't even consider boys' names.
I love Saoise but I wouldn't want to deal with nobody being able to pronounce it. I also like Brigid or Bridget but DH vetoed those right off the bat.
I've always liked Fianna. not sure of the exact origin, but it's one of the ladies at my church and I love her name - she pronounces the fi- as in high.

I'm always on the hunt for a strong irish/gaelic names but hate trolling the sites. Can you suggest a good irish baby name book?

I love your name, Bev. I used to know a Bevin who was awesome. I'd love to use it someday, but the Bevin I know has a sister named Jillian and I think they'd think I'm weird for naming two daughters their names.

I just saw one at the Irish store in Mytic and didn't buy it. I have this one, but I'm not a huge fan. Otherwise, I don't have one. My plan is to look when we are over there. want me to grab you one if I find anything good?
ETA: i think this is the one I was looking at in CT
I had never heard of DeValera (DH knows less about Irish history than I do) but a quick search tells me he would absolutely approve.
Have you seen Michael Collins with Alan Rickman (as DeValera) and Liam Neesen as Michael Collins? Excellent movie, but most of the older Irish are divided as to who was "right".

I haven't but have been meaning to.
DH's family is pretty solidly Republican. They were supporters of Bobby Sands. Now that I think, Gerard is a nice name. Gerry.
We just named our son Connor Patrick which is definitely "mainstream american" Irish. My husband's middle name is Patrick and we both like the name Connor (and considered it along-side names like William and Noah so it wasn't really intentional to end up with a super Irish name)...

It's hard to make suggestions without knowing your DD's name.

Liam, Seamus, Fionntan, Conall, Nolan, Quinn
Girls:
Aisling , Fiona, Irene , Caitriona, Brennan
Fine, GC. DD's name is Caitlin.
I've been to that site. I was just feeling lazy. lol.
Saoirse is also my favorite, but only DH's family would be able to pronounce it. And they're all in Ireland.

Declan is my favorite. It probably would have been dd's name if she had been a boy.
I also like Darrah, Eoin and Ciaran a lot.
Bridget is MIL's name and one of my neices is named after her. That's enough of that name for me.
I kind of like Shannon. A little. Girl names are tough for me.
I love your name, Bev. I used to know a Bevin who was awesome. I'd love to use it someday, but the Bevin I know has a sister named Jillian and I think they'd think I'm weird for naming two daughters their names.

I actually love this name (you're welcome), but stupid DH said No. Bah!
