I totally understand the love you have for your pet, but I think a child deserves their own name. Our beloved dog passed away a few years ago, but I wouldn't name my next child after her.
Vienna is a lovely name, but could you try to come up with another "V" name for the baby? Vivienne, Violet, etc? I wouldn't want to have my mom tell me that I was named after a dog one day when I am old enough to ask, you know?
We just like the name. It really isn't to name #2 after the dog. Perhaps b/c I don't post too often I wind up being vague. Thanks for the clarification! And really I wanted people to say weird b/c I'm trying to get my husband to stop with this already!!! I do like Violetta or Violet though. It is a family name though and can't use it! Thanks!
I know a little girl named Vienna and it is adorable on her.
I have the same name of a pomeranian that my mom had years before I was born. No big deal. She just really liked the name. So I don't think that it is THAT weird.
Naming her after your dog cause you miss her is kinda weird. But...I have a dog named Tahner and I wanna name a girl that if I have one....I love the name.
I told DH that at least one of our twins has to be named after my cat, who died the day before we found out we were having twins. His name was Squeegee.

Thank you! Lol. It has been a long day and that really cracked me up. In regards to the original post our dog's name is Abigail and we loved it but we wouldn't use it nor would we use anything with the nickname Addy because a dog named Abby along with a lo named Addy would be too much. Someone should have told me not to give a pet a real name you really love. Oh well DD's name is still #1 for us,
Like I said, I don't have issues with pets and kids sharing names, but the name has to be a contender, and Vienna is just not; I'm sorry. If you're super hung up on it, I'd consider it for a middle name.
And ten bucks says the four-legged Vienna was a daschund.
I've posted in response this topic before, but I'll say it again -- please don't name your child after a pet!
My mom gave my name (Annie) to a dog she had as a child. It has always bothered me that I was named after her dog -- and I'm a total dog lover. I can appreciate that it's one of her favorite names, but, as a child, it still felt like she had already used the name up on someone/something she loved and I got it second hand.
kinda reminds me of my name, brittany... apparently i was named brittany cuz i was still wrinkly n covered in fuzz when i was born n my dad thought i looked like a puppy... so now i am forever a brittany spaniel

Sausages. Dogs. Poor kid!
Why not go with Sienna instead? She'll thank you later.

I love the name Josephine, but my in-laws have a dog named that so it was crossed off the list.
Vienna is pretty. You should have saved it for a kid instead of using it for a pet.
I just thought of a sausage too
Some thoughts on this in no particular order....
1. I have no issue with kids and pets names
2. Most people do have issues with kids and pets names
3. Vienna is a sausage
4. The French name, Vienne could work. Less sausage, more given name.
