If you have/had a large infant

What size diapers were you buying at seven months?  My amazon order for size 5 Luvs got messed up, so I had to put DS in one of DD's size 6 Luvs.  I think it might fit better than the 5.  Am I crazy?  DD only moved into size 6 in September!  What do I do if he totally outgrows diapers?  Will I have to buy Depends for the poor boy?!  FWIW he was 22 pounds at his six-month appointment.

Re: If you have/had a large infant

  • Also, what do you do about clothing?  His sleeves and pants are way too long to get them to fit around his belly.  Pajamas especially are an issue since they're made to fit tightly.

  • Man, he IS a big guy, huh?  DS1 is still in Target size 4 diapers and he's 26-27 lbs (?).  Do you thin another brand might run a little bigger?  FWIW - we do size 5 Huggies overnights; but the Target size 4's work better during the day.
  • DD is in Target 4's at 27+ lbs, but Huggies I had to go to a 5 b/c they didn't fit well.  Maybe try a different brand and see if a smaller size fits?  '

ETA:  clothes we just delt with the length.  Pants get rolled and so do sleeves.  She is just now finally evening out at the 95% for both weight and height, but when she was short and chubby, we just rolled everything up.

  • Your arms must be ripped toting that little man around! Go Andrew! I agree with the suggestions above, try another brand. Owen is in a 3 and Maggie a 4 from either Target or Walmart and I can put one on the other if we are in a pinch. But she's a peanut and he's slowed down growth considerably in the last 2 months.

  • DD is in size 4 Luvs @ 21 months.  She weighs about 22 lbs too.

My thinking is that he'll probably thin out and you might need a different (smaller) size of diapers when that happens.

  • I have average sized kids, but I agree with trying the Target brand (our favorite).  Charlotte is 23 lbs. and wearing a size 3 in the Target brand.

  • I do believe your DS is on the same path as my DS :)

We were at 20+ pounds at his 6m appt. as well.  I know he was in size 5s for a long time and then he started leaking in those and we moved up to a size 6.  He is still in a size 6 and weighs 43lbs.  He will start to plateau with his weight, especially when he starts moving!  We had to roll up his pants or sleves.  I did a quick hem on some of his "nicer" pants.

  • I've tried Luvs, Huggies, Pampers, and the Target brand.  I think the kid is just big.  Escape, it's good to hear that there is hope he'll fit into the size 6 diapers for a while.  :)

Now I'm off to order some 24 month clothing.  Is it bad that I now carry one unisex spare outfit in my bag?

  • Ellie started fitting in Size 5s around a year old. She still fits in Size 5. I think it will level off for you.

I love it. Less to tote around! Way to be a team player, little guy!

  • We went to size 5 around 14 mos; we're still in size 5.  Hopefully it'll level off like pp's suggested.
