"Alternative" name spellings

It's no secret that I abhor unique-ified name spellings. This weekend we were served by a  "Treysi."

Ick!

Dear Bump: You suck.

  • Someone at church is naming her daughter Emmalee.  I didn't think anything of it (seeing it written) because our neighbor just had a baby named Emmaline.  I thought maybe this was a new trend.  But then I said it out loud and wondered, why didn't they just go with Emily?

  • That's a hurter.  Fo sho.
  • Ooh that's bad.  But I really shouldn't be allowed to make fun.  After all, my kids couldn't just be Jacob and Elena.  I had to name them Jakob and Alayna.  Poor things can never find a water bottle or bracelet with their name on it.

  • I can't help but wonder if Treysi and Jesykah are just spelling their names that way intentionally on their name tags .... and if their parents are cringing as much as we are.
