Success after IF

Where do I belong?

I got my bfp just over a week ago, with my first beta 105. I was so excited to move over to this board and start planning for our baby. Then beta #2 was 120, and beta #3 194. RE said there was still a slight chance, but not to get my hopes up. But, it sounded like he thought I would miscarry. On Monday he had me come in for an u/s at 5w5d and we actually saw the sac, and inner sac? Not sure, but he said that was good. Anyway, there was no heartbeat and he couldn't actually see the embryo. He has me coming back next Monday to check again. He said there is still a chance that embie could catch up by Monday and we could see a heartbeat, but he also said if nothing has changed Monday, I should do a d&c and start bcp's again to get ready for a fet.  I feel like I'm in such limbo, I haven't gotten a ticker saying I'm pregnant and don't look at any baby stuff, cuz RE seems like the odds aren't in my favor and baby will probably be gone in another week. I feel like I'm just stuck in the middle somewhere. Has anyone heard of anything like this ending well? Sorry for rambling, thanks for listening!!

Re: Where do I belong?

  • I had a similar story. My beta started out at 6 and didn't double. I don't recall my exact numbers. My first u/s showed "an empty uterus". I was told it was another EP and offered Methotrexate, which I refused. I insisted on a repeat u/s in one week. The DR agreed, yet continued to tell me not to get my hopes up because it was either an EP or some other "non-viable pregnancy".  Boy were they all wrong..... 1week later we not only saw a hb, but we saw arm and leg buds. He even waved!

Hang in there. Only time will tell. Limbo is a terrible place to be. Here's to hoping for a short stay there. GL and keep us posted!

  • Being in limbo and not knowing is a really difficult place. I hope this week flies by and you get good news on Monday. It can happen. Hang in there and maybe make some weekend plans that will be a distraction (I know - tough).

I hope it works out well.

  • You can hang here.  I dont think anyone will mind.  Even if its just for support.  ll keep u in my thouhts.

  • Rising betas and seeing a sac and yolk sac are good things.  I completely understand your guarded feelings (and I am SO sorry you're in limbo) but I hope Monday will bring you here for good.  I'll be keeping my fingers crossed.

  • Thank you girls so much!!!! You've really lifted my spirits. Newport, your story is such an inspiration. I know I have to be prepared for anything, but knowing what a wonderful outcome you had, really gives me hope. Maybe our embie just needs another week to catch up. I'll keep you all posted next Monday. Thanks again for your support!!!!!
