Anyone used Grovia's?

I've heard good things and we're thinking about starting CDing next month with these.  Would you recommend?  If so, how many should I start with...

Re: Anyone used Grovia's?

  • We got one in our CD trial package from Jillian's Drawers, and so far I like it.  I find the FB and BG pockets a little bit more user friendly (especially for my DH), but it didn't stop me from buying a few Grovias to add to my stash when they were 25% off on Black Friday.

According to their info, you should only need a few shells a day and you can just switch out the insert, but I'm not finding that to be true.  My LO is still young though, and tends to poop a lot.  So I guess if you want to use them exclusively, I would recommend at least 8 shells and maybe 24 inserts (depending on how often you change diapers).  For me, I ordered 3 shells and 8 liners, but that's just going to be a portion of my stash.  I like variety :)

We did the JD trial also and, while I really liked they way they fit DS, I was not a fan of having the change the shell every time he pooped since the poop never stayed on the insert.  DS was 12 months old when we did our trial.

Happy Baby Company has one on clearance for 21.95 and they have free shipping.  I'd try some out before deciding if that's what you want your stash to consist of.  Here's a link:  https://www.happybabycompany.com/GroVia-Shell-SetAI2_p_358.html

  • I use soft bums, which are like grovias, but I don't have to change the shell as frequently as I did with grovias. Maybe check those out too?

  • The poop-on-shell issue shouldn't be as big of a deal for you since your little one is almost 4 months.  I found at about 3.5-4 months, my daughter had so many fewer poops that it wasn't such a big deal when it got on the cover.  I like the fit and I LOVE the new prints that are coming (already came?) out.

That said, my husband really didn't like unsnapping the dirty insert.  I like the system fine, but really prefer Flips.  The staydry insert is amazing.  It does bunch sometimes, but it really does feel dry to baby's skin.  (And husband likes just being able to shake the insert out into the pail!)
