DD is still in her basinett in our room. I love her being there. It is easier when she gets up at night, I feel like I can soothe her really well bc I'm right there. I wake up at her slightest movement. I love her being in our room. I'm wondering if anyone else still has their LO in their room w them? She hasn't ever slept in her room. I know the time is soon, she is getting so long and I find her bumping her head on the top bc if her kicking. Any tips to help me and her adjust? Do I just up and put her in the crib one night an hope for the best or what? I have terrible anxiety over this.... I know it sounds dumb.

Re: How long to co-sleep?
DD slept in our room until we moved into our new house. But, her first night in her own room was the first night we spent in our new house. She was about 3 months old on the dot. I find that she actually sleeps better in her room. We have a monitor, but her room is right across from ours so we hear her if she wakes. It's easier for DH and I because I work until 1am and I don't have to worry about waking her up when I go into our room. Although I normally do wake her up by staring at her when I get home. I still have anxiety over her being in her own room. I have DH check on her like every hour on the hour and I check when I get home. You being scared to put her in her own room isn't dumb. You're her mommy.
Do you have a video monitor? If you don't I suggest that you get one. It will make it easier for you because you'll be able to see her and know that she's okay. It's going to be rough the first night...and probably a few following. It will probably be much easier on your DD than on you. She'll probably like being in her crib where she has more room to move about. I don't think my DD would even fit into her basinett anymore.
We co-slept until 12 weeks exactly. I moved him to his crib on my birthday lol. I was worried it would be a huge drama but he transitioned with NO issues. I was putting him in his crib to sleep during naps for a week. We use a routine too, turn on music, close blinds, turn off lamp, kiss and down. I do wait until he's very sleepy before I put him down and make sure he's almost out. It helps that he put himself on a schedule in the last few weeks too. Good luck!
I'm going to make an AWESOME big brother.
From 3 to 4 months E slept through the night in her crib in our room. We don't have the extra space right now for her to have her own room. At 4 months she started waking up to play, we just thought it was the 4 month wakeful, until one night DH and I both fell asleep on the couch after putting her to bed. She slept so well! Since then we have sold our sectional sofa (planned on it anyway) and moved the futon to the living room. That is where we sleep. I tried sleeping in the bedroom one night with her and she woke up and wouldn't go back to sleep.
Currently, the plan is to close in the dining room and turn that into a bedroom for her. Hopefully that comes soon because I miss my bed.
