How long is everyone planning on working till? My due date is March 3 and originally planned on working until Feb 17 (two weeks before my due date). I am starting to have second thoughts about that!! I technically don't care about my maternity leave b/c it's unpaid and I am only guaranteed the job I have now when I decide to return and I AM NOT returning to this position so it doesn't really matter to me if I get the maternity leave or not. Anyway, I am starting to really feel run down and starting to get all the pregnancy woes (back ache, leg cramps, the waddle, etc) and now I am reconsidering working until mid Feb! I feel like I'll barely make it to the end of the year!! I'm just wondered what others are doing in regards to working till their due dates.........

Barring any complications, I plan to work until I go into labor. I'm an attorney now and sit at my desk most of the day, so there is no real physical stress at my job. If I feel cruddy toward the end, I will work from home, but still work. I don't want to waste any paid leave by taking time off before I go into labor.
In my last pregnancy I stopped working at 38 weeks because it was August and I worked in a huge non-air conditioned warehouse running a rare book website, which involved lots of physical work and I was so uncomfortable at the end.
I'm due March 1st and my last day as of now is Feb 11. I'm a teacher and we get 20 days before and 20 days after paid, but I can't move the days to make it 40 after. I just wanted to give myself enough leeway just in case he is late because they count the days based on his actual delivery date. If you aren't feeling well and you aren't returning to work anyway, I would go earlier, unless you really need the money. I was thinking of going earlier but I also don't want to be sitting at home by myself for an extra week or so. I think I'd go stir crazy.
As far as not feeling well, I've found that it really helps to walk and stay active. The more I sit around, the crappier I feel. My dr told me to walk 2 miles a day and not because I am overweight by any means, but it'll make the pregnancy much easier.
I made it up to my due date with DS (he was a week late) and I'm hoping to do the same with this one, if not working up to when he decides to show up. I only have 8 weeks off and not all of that is paid, so I'd rather spend the time I have off with the baby rather than waiting for him to show up.
Then again, I have to admit, having that last week off before DS was born really helped me to relax, get things in order and de-stress, so I guess we'll just play it by ear.
I'm going to listen to my body this time. Last time my docs wanted to put me out and I compromised and worked 25 hours a week from 7 months on and ended up having my son a month early due to health issues. Thank God I listened finally and went on leave Dec 19th. He was born Jan 13th so i didn't even end up with all of my paid leave time since i'm in CA and they cover 4 weeks before.
I'm on limited hours right now and have a super stressful job so it will just depend on my body, blood pressure and any other issues with this pregnancy. I've learned not to push myself and to listen to my doc...i'd recommend that route as well.
I'm gonna just feel it out this time. Last time I made it until the day I delivered which was IMO, impressive as I worked retail management.
This time I'm part time and low stress, so who knows.
I'll work up until my induction date (or until I go into labor, if she decided to come early) With dd, I drove from work to the hospital.
I have a very physically demanding job (I'm an occupational therapist). I have been dealing with braxton hicks since 17 weeks and all of the 'pregnancy woes' while lifting, transferring and exercising my patients and plan to do so until the end. I would rather 'deal' with working up until then end if that means I get more time at home when the baby is actually here.

If you are not coming back, you can leave whenever you want.
I'm planning my last day for 3 days before my due date - I'm due on a Monday and my last day will be the Friday before.
Barring any medical complications, I plan to work until I go into labor.
Last time I was due Aug. 14th and I stopped working July 30. I ended up going a week past my due date before Drew arrived so I was off work for a full 3 weeks. It was not fun at all. I was bored, stir crazy, and quite the ball of emotions. I know that working wouldn't have been a walk in the park, but most days I wished I could go in just so I'd have something to DO.
I'm another one who will work as long as I can, but I plan to go back to my job. Also, my mat leave is paid by using my sick days, so I don't want to take any more than necessary.
I do work with a lady who is pregnant and due in May. She's decided that after this baby is born, she will not return to work. She is going to finish teaching at the end of this semester and not come back in January.
I'm due June 1, so I plan to work until about May 15. I won't be returning so I'm taking it early. I'm going to be a stay at home mama.
I plan on having my last day be either April 1st or April 8th. I am due May 11th. My work involves a lot of travel to client sites and I live 2 hours away from our office (work from home the majority of time), I just don't want to be driving around a lot in my last couple of months. My biggest fear is driving on the highway in the middle of no where and going into labor.
I probably won't be returning to my job after, I'm planning on being a SAHM.
Baby #2 on the way!
This exactly - I am also due April 19th and I plan on working pretty much until I have the baby. My job is pretty low activity level. (And I will obviously stop working early if I need to, but as of right now this is my plan.)
I will probably work until the day before my c-section. Last time, I worked past my due date and took the day before my induction off. I don't have a very physically demanding job, but at the time, I was working in between 2 offices 0.5 miles apart (in the same building) and walking about 3 miles a day (back and forth) with horrible sciatic pain. It was worth dealing with the pain while walking to be able to spend the full 12 weeks with DD after she was born.
If you're going to be a SAHM and can financially afford to leave early, go for it!
Like most have said, unless my doctor ends up advising otherwise (and there are no known risk factors yet), I'll try to be here until I go into labor.
It's a low-stress desk job and the only paid leave I get is the vacation/sick leave that I've stored up, and there won't be much of that.
