We've been to a couple destination weddings and have always had a blast! Maybe you can recruit someone to watch your kids and you and DH can go. But I gotta say, I wouldn't feel pressured. The 2 brides I know that have had them knew that by having a destination wedding some of their close relatives/friends wouldn't be able to make it.
I agree though, if you truely feel obligated and can't afford it, I would say something now. If the couple is bothered that so many can't attend maybe they would reconsider. If anything you can just send your DH too.
I think they are fine as long as they don't expect everyone to go as well! I would have to say that we couldn't go if that was the case. No way would I travel with my two little ones. Also I BF so I couldn't just leave them home either, not like I would want to anyway.
