Warming Stored Milk

Anyone have any tips of warming milk from the refridgerated and frozen state?  I am going back to work in a week and only have thought of warming hot water and letting the bottle sit in the hot water but I am not sure how thrilled daycare will be about this.

Re: Warming Stored Milk

  • Are you storing the milk in bottles or bags? We stored it in bags and just ran the bag under warm water for a few minutes and it was thawed/warmed perfectly and it didn't take long.

  • I have a lot frozen in Lansinoh bags but also will be pumping and storing it in bottles in the refridgerator.
  • i put the bottles in a cup of hot water. you only need to warm it up enough to make the fat run down the sides -- my baby will drink "cool" milk. it takes less than a minute.

also, remember to tell daycare to "swish and swirl" to mix and NOT shake. shaking is bad for breast milk and ill break the amino chains.

  • Bottle warmers work great!  We used them all the time.  When DS was at daycare, they had small crock-pots of water that they would keep on all day and put the bottles in to warm.
