Trying to Get Pregnant

1st Post...Worried

My H and I have been trying since May to conceive. No luck so far. I am concerned that TTC will be difficult since I have PCOS. I have been on Met since Sept. I really thought this month I was only to be disappointed. Any others out there with PCOS that have helpful hints let me know. We haven't seen any doctors yet since my doctor friend told me we would be better off trying a 9 months before seening a doctor.

  • There are a lot of us with PCOS. They don't use Metformin as treatment here in Ontario, that I am aware of... but I haven't discussed this with my OB.

Your friend makes a good suggestion about trying for 9 months, but I would suggest tracking (in not charting) when you have sex, symptoms, and all that jazz.

    Good luck!

  • Welcome to the board.  If you have your yearly coming up soon that would be the perfect time to talk to your doctor about this.  Before we started trying I made a pre-conception appointment wiht my doctor.  There was no exam but it was just office time to chat about what to do and DH was able to be in the room so it was helpful for him to hear what she was saying.  You might be able to do the same type of thing to reduce your concerns.

Does your doctor know you are TTC?  The 9-12 month rule applies if everything seems to be "normal" - because of your PCOS, I think should get in there sooner and at least share you concerns with your doctor.

    Good luck to you!

  • I am with PP on this. I have PCOS and went to my OB right away when H and I decided to TTC, but I also have never had a regular cycle so I knew that I needed to get things on track.

It all depends on if your cycle is 'normal', if you feel that you should see your doctor, then you should, if you feel that you and H can wait it out to see if you get a BFP without extra help, then you should.

    Good Luck!

  • Thank you for the support. 1st I have to find a doctor. I moved in June and I can't find anyone to agree with what doctor I should go to. I don't have my yearly until Feb, considering its almost Dec. I think I will wait. Yes, my everything else Doctor knows I am trying to get pregnant that is why I am on Metformin.
