If I say be here by 3 pm, then I am going to start cooking food for people to get here at 3 pm. So why the hellllz are you texting me at 2:30 saying you are going to show up at 4. Uhm, rude much? She then said "Well Dh had to work all night and he didn't get home til 9 am so he's sleeping right now"
Okay, that is fine. I understand that. But why wait til the last minute to tell me???? Couldn't you have texted me at 9 am saying that Dh just got home and can we come a little later?
Thankfully I had only started the ham. I hadn't started any sides yet, which I was ABOUT to.
So now I am just waiting for our guests to show up at "Four". Which they are habitual about being late so I wouldn't be surprised it is more like 4:30.
This is my first time hosting and I just want the food to be perfect. I'm a rather good cook but food that has been sitting out too long will still taste like poo!
Vent over.
Re: A little thanksgiving vent, why do people think its okay to be late?
Thanks ladies. They are our only guests (Since first time hosting I wanted to keep it simple, and my dad couldn't make it up) And I understand that with having two LO's slows you down and when her DH got home and didn't sleep at all last night, I get it. But be polite and tell me ahead of time. I know things happen, but don't wait til I'm expecting you in 30 minutes to tell me you are going to be late.
Oh that sucks! I'd be mad too.
I once hosted a brunch for another couple at our place for 11:00 am (to sit down and eat). You know when they showed up? 1:30 pm. They didn't even call until 12:00 pm to say they were going to be late. I'm a pretty good cook too, but the food was awful and soggy. I made no apologies - told them it tasted great at 11:00 am when they were supposed to be here. I have never hosted for them again.
I guess you'll just have to take comfort in the fact that you're polite enough to never do that to somebody else who is going out of their way to cook a nice meal for you!
