Bum Genius- hook & loop or snaps???

Which do you prefer and why?  I'm making my first purchase, and I'm not sure what to get?  I'm doing to Buy 5, get one free, so I was thinking I'd get 3 of each, to see what we like.

Re: Bum Genius- hook & loop or snaps???

  • I like them both so I got half and half. (sorry I am no help)

  • I like the snaps. Easier to wash my hook and loops get all stuck together and to the inserts even when I use the laundry tabs

  • I much prefer hook and loop. It's easier at change-time and I feel like it gets a better fit.

  • I prefer the hook and loops.  I can hardly get DD to stay still long enough for the velcro so I figured snaps would be impossible.  Also, I just got some 4.0's and the velcro and laudry tabs on those are much better than the laundry tabs on the 3.0's.  They actually stay put so they don't cling to each other in the washer.

  • I'm very new to this.  Do the laundry tabs come with the diapers, or do I have to buy them separately?

  • Ugh, I bought both even thought I prefer hook and loop. Hook and loop is easier to fit to baby. But, snaps will hold up better with time and will be harder for  DS to strip off  of  him.

  • I'm also starting out and am working on my stash. I have both snaps and aplix, but the majority of my stash will be snaps. I think the aplix will be ideal for late night diaper changes. Snaps will wear better long term and will be hard to get off when LO gets to that stage.

  • The laundry tabs are part of the diaper.  I much prefer velcro at this stage.
  • I prefer snaps.

  • I have both but haven't gotten to use them yet.  But my husband has already decided that he HATES snaps.  I think his fingers are too big.  He will use the prefolds before he reaches for our KL0's.

  • Thanks everyone!
  • I prefer velcro w/ BGs.  I don't like how they do their snaps -- I can't ever get a good fit.
  • If you're not sure, I'd get half and half.

I prefer velcro because I get a better fit with my chunky-thighed, small waisted baby. I don't mind snaps, but my husband hates them and can't get them on right. He doesn't have a problem with velcro.

  • I'm a snaps girl, I got rid of all my hook and loop diapers. They stick together in the wash and get gunk all over them.
    :)
  • Thanks everyone, for giving me the pros and cons of each type.  I went ahead with my original plan and bought three of each.

DH was set that he wanted snaps because the velcro can wear out, but then I told him how many of you get better fits with the velcro.  He's not sure now what he wants, either.
