Anyone have any product recommendations? I use Suave detangler right now, but her hair just gets so snarly, it pretty much only gets combed when she takes a bath, otherwise I'm lucky if she lets me get my fingers through it. I just want something that makes it a little easier and less painful for her - I have no experience with curly hair!
Re: DD's with curly hair
IMO, the J&J detangler is worlds better then the Suave one. I tried Suave and immediately went back out to get more J&J.
That said, DD's hair also pretty much only gets combed when she takes a bath. But, I've heard that's what you're supposed to do w/ curly hair anyway. She hates her hair washed, so if I really need to comb it out, I spray it w/ J&J and brush it out, then I use my fingers to shape the curls back up.

Johnson and Johnson baby shampoo for curly hair each night
Johnson and Johnson no more tangles each morning so I can comb it (I use a lot to make it pretty wet)
We do a lot of pigtails, ponytails, and braids during the week (DD goes to daycare all day)
...and when she wants to leave her hair down we use curlysexyhair. It's a leave in curling cream that keeps her hair from tangling and getting frizzy. It's a little pricey, but lasts a long time...at least for us... and Works Great!! (my secret came from the lady who does my hair cause I had no experience
You could try CURLS products. The moist curls detangler is pretty good, also you might try the curly milkshake (just depending on how frizzy the hair gets). It's really for biracial kids, but the products are definitely recommended for curly kids of all types/races. The website has loads of info on the use of products for different hair types in its discussion forum, and you can post a question and have the product rep answer your specific questions about your child--she'll even look at a photo and determine what products would work best for that texture of hair.
I can't say the products all work 100% for my daughter, who is af/am, but they have better ingredients than most of what's on the market (they use organic ingredients, no silicone, mineral oil, other irritants etc...) and DD's hair is growing, healthy, and somewhat under control.
Other product recs: Noodle and Boo conditioning hair polish. A tad expensive, but I think well worth it. Detangles, cuts frizz, smells great. Ithink it might be good for your DS. Try it! (just realized, you have a boy--and a girl! LOL. I use these products on my son too. LOL)
