Success after IF

Post IVF instructions?

Hi there, I got my initial BFP today!  Yeah! (Beta was 118 at 11dp3dt!)

I have not talked to my RE (weird situation). . . my instructions for the 2ww were to not like, pull, push or carry anything more than 10 pounds.  Do I still need to follow this?

The reason I ask is that I'm watching my neighbor/friend's 22 month old tomorrow.  I don't have to pick her up, she's mobile and all. . . but she's such a snuggle bug!  :o)

I don't want to do anything stupid, not realizing that it is stupid! :o)  Thanks!

Re: Post IVF instructions?

  • I was told not to lift anything over 25lbs. I would follow her instructions.

  • I wouldn't go overboard, but I think you're ok to still wtch her.  When I asked my nurse about exercising and getting back to "normal" she said that I should still kind of take it easy.  The chance of doing something bad are so low but you would hate to feel like you made something happen.  Congrats on the BFP... so so so exciting :)

  • First, Congratulations!!!!!!!! It's great to see you over here.

My RE told me to stay mellow (no heavy lifting, etc.) until after my 8 week u/s when he would release me to the OB, but I think snuggling with her would be fine! :-)

    Congrats again!!!

  • Congrats!!

I had restrictions (no heavy lifting, no physical activity, no sex) until I was released from RE at 8w4d, but that was mainly because due to the mild OHSS I had.

But I still snuggled with my nieces. I forgot and lifted the 4 year old in a hug and I was fine. Enjoy your time with her!

After 20 months, 3 Clomid cycles and 4 IUI cycles, IVF #1 with ICSI = BFP!

  • Thanks ladies!  I have been the queen of taking it easy!

It does help that my friend's daughter is a petite little thing, hardly weighs anything!

I'm so happy to have made it this far!!!!!!!!

  • Congrats!!!!  My RE must be pretty laid back because I was told no heavy lifting for 2 weeks after ET.  I still try not to lift much as I am paranoid.  I think you will be fine.  I say just snuggle with her on the couch then you won't have to lift her.  Have fun!
