completely random Q: dishwashers

Does anyone here live in a home built in the last five years (or even 10) that does not have a dishwasher?

I'm watching House Hunters and this couple is looking at a new construction home - 3 bedrooms, attached garage, pretty big kitchen, walk-in closets, etc - but there's no dishwasher.

Isn't that odd?

That is definitely odd! Our house is just a few months old...and I couldn't imagine buying it without a dishwasher.

we bought a house in the dc area this year and watching house hunters makes me sad sometimes because things can be soooo inexpensive in other parts of the country!

This seems extremely odd unless it's in a very specific area (read: NYC condos with bathroom sized sq. footage).

We built our townhouse a couple years ago and had the option to leave out the dishwasher. I thought that was really strange.

When we bought our house 3 years ago, we looked at a newer house (built within the last 5 years) that didn't have a dishwasher. It also did not even have an option to install a dishwasher. That was an immediate turn off that we couldn't get past.
