Mac n cheese recipe

I'm craving some good Mac n cheese so I volunteered to make it for thanksgiving, but was wondering who had a delicious recipe.

Re: Mac n cheese recipe

  • Every single party my kids have or other family members have, they ask me to make this:

1 block of velveeta cheese (I believe its the 5lb block, not positive. Its not the small block) -cubed

    1 stick of butter

2 cans of Cheddar cheese soup

    2lb bag of macaroni noodles

Using a heavy bottom large pot, melt the butter. Put in cubed cheese and start melting down, stirring in the cheddar cheese soup. Stir continuously until everything is melted, careful not to burn anything on the bottom. Once everything is melted, add noodles. You can either serve it like that or you can spread grated cheddar cheese and sprinkled paprika on top and bake it until crispy crust forms. My kids dont like the crispy crust but the adults do. This will make two pans of macaroni.

  • I LOVE this recipe. It's so good and made with real cheese that adults like it as much as kids.

    1lb box macaroni

    1 quart of milk

    1 stick of butter

    1/2 cup flour

6 cups shredded cheese any combo of cheddar and gruyere ( I usually use 4 cups extra sharp cheddar and 2 cups gruyere- gruyere is sometimes hard to find and can be expensive so you can substitute swiss if you have to but try to use the gruyere if you can)

salt and pepper to taste ( I use about 1 tsp of each)

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees

make mac careful not to overcook

heat milk in a pain, don't boil or burn, just heat

heat stick of butter in a separate larger pot, whisk in flour, then add hot mik

take milk mixture off heat add cheese salt & pepper, stir until cheese is melted

place macaroni into two large glass or pyrex oven safe  dishes then pour cheesy mixture over macaroni. Sprinkle with bread crumbs and bake until the top is golden and bubbly.
