  there are some folks who are obsessed with giving girls boys' names.

  there are some folks  who think any name that isn't actively some sort of phallic representation (Gunn, Ryder, Colt, Iron, Spike, etc.) are 'feminine'.

  could be you're dealing with either, or both.

  Jameson is definitely a boy's name- I know a little boy with this name, I think it's cute. NOT for a girl, no way.

  I've heard Lyndon for a girl but it's spelled Linden. I think that names sounds feminine and I like it for a girl's name.

  MH works with a girl and her name is Jamison. I thought of using is to honor my Aunt Jamie, but then I realized it is definitely a boys name and opted not to even put it on our list.

  Um, no.  And I wouldn't name my son this unless my DH was a James.  And Lyndon will always make me think of LBJ who is not feminine AT ALL.
