Parenting after 35

DS has not napped all day!

I don't know what is going on, but Noah is refusing to nap for more than 45 minutes at a time!  Usually he gets in a good 2-3 hour nap every day, plus maybe another 1 hour nap as well.  Today he is waking up every single time we try to lay him down.  I know he is tired, but I don't know how to get him to sleep.  I sincerely hope he does not do the same thing when we try to get him to bed for the night!  Last night he slept great, from 10:30 to 3am then from 3:45 to 8; maybe this is our payback for him giving us a decent night's sleep last night!!

  • could be a weather change coming that has set him off

  • Could it be the 6 week growth spurt?? That can make them a little uncomfortable and crabby.

    I hope things get better.

Will he lay down on your chest while you recline, or wear him for a "nap", then try putting him in his crib (or wherever he normally naps) next time. it really is true, sleep begets sleep.

how about a looooong drive and a car nap? Hot bath and a stroll (not sure about your weather - so that might NOT be an option)?

  • Margaux didn't like to lie flat for a while, we had her in the bouncer or on one of us for naps until she outgrew it.  It was really frustrating!  I hope it's just the 6 week growth thing.

  • If this keeps up tomorrow I will try wearing him and try the swing for a nap.  Now I am worried about him sleeping tonight; he doesn't seem to be too interested in that, either!

  • I still remember when S was 6-8 weeks old, that was the worst time in his life for sleeping!  And the books even say that around 7 weeks they go through sleep regression/extreme fussiness (I think it was Weissbluth?)  Hang in there!
