Haha, I agree with most of these. Except I have two close friends named Brenda and Irene, so I think of them as names that can work on young people too. And DH's middle name is Earl but we won't be using that one!
Funny, considering that Evelyn is in the top 50 and Eleanor and Tallulah are definitely moving up the list. I'd say these already have/are having their comeback...so you've missed the boat here.
Re: List 3 old-fashioned names that should NOT make a comeback
Mildred
Hilda
Heloise
I can only think of one.
Chester
I'll agree with these. Especially Mildred and Hilda. Yuck with a side of yuck!
Phyllis
Myrtle
Bertha
Ethel
Mildred
Eugene
Gertrude
Avis
Eugene
Lester
Gladys
Bertha
Deborah
Martha
Brenda
Arthur
Pearl
Beulah (I wish I was making this name up)
IreneMy great grandmother's name was Cunnigunda.
I've never heard it any where else, and it should stay that way.
I love about 1/3 of the names on this growing list
In fact, Pearl is my top choice for a girl.
Hehe, I like some of those already listed (Clyde, Hazel, Dorothy, Esther). Too each their own! To that end, I would add -
Bernice, Dorcas, Edna,
Earl, Melvin, Vern.
Agnes
Mildred
Maude
Ooh, I've got one! Fanny. That's DH grandma's name. And my grandma's name is Doris. I don't think that one will make a comeback either.
Aw, I was afraid Hazel would get thrown in there.
I agree with all the names except Hazel, Pearl, and Dorothy (which is the name I'm considering if there's a girl #3).
Mildred is especially awful.
Also gonna throw in Marjorie. Ick.
Fanny
Dorcas
Bertha
Beulah
Hilda
Eunice
Hyman
Floyd
Willy
Furman

That is truly horrible. A present-day teen with that name would have no chance.
I notice many of you are listing far more than 3 names, lol.
Cleatus.
Norman.
Elmer.
and
Evelyn.
Frances.
Eleanor.
Talullah.
I also love Walter, Arthur and Pearl.
ETA: And I love Eleanor and Evelyn.
