  I've heard from friends with toddlers that the leapfrog puppy is a great. It's marked for ages 6-36 mo, but apparently it's really most useful with 18mo and up.

  There is a vtech kind of bike that rocks or rolls on the wheels.  I know Costco has it right now.  A friend gave it as a hand-me-down to us and DS loves that thing.  Balls are good.  The soft tonka trucks (the really large size) are great.  Also check out Rody, the bouncy horse -- like a hippity-hop but fixed.

  He would probably like a Tonka dump truck (and some blocks to dum/build/knock down) if he doesn't have one. If he does have one, maybe one of the front loaders of the semi. I know my boys looooooved those things.

  my boys love blocks of all kinds --- nesting blocks are really great - we have 2 sets and they play with them every day.

  pretend foods are fun- esp for boys b/c people don't tend to get them those things as gifts.

  the leap frog fridge phonics or the farm one with the animals are fun.

  a really cool spinning top - the big ones that you have to push down on the thing over and over... we have on that makes a train go around inside and they LOVE it.

  little people farm = a favorite lately with my boys.

  musical instruments = another fav.

  play doh  = we just started it with them and they are having a blast.
