Adoption

Can you recommend any books about adoption?

We are adopting older children that have been removed from their parents. Does anyone know of any good books that are helpful in explaining this type of adoption to children?

Re: Can you recommend any books about adoption?

  • These are the ones I've purchased and would recommend:

There is a series called "kids are important". I got all of these on amazon.com but the closest one to what you are asking for is part of this series and called "Families Change--A book for children experiencing termination of parental rights". By Julie Nelson

Another one in this series that I like is: "Kids need to be safe--a book for children in foster care" By Julie Nelson

This one is not in that series but "Maybe Days"--A book for children in foster care by Jennifer Wilgocki and Marcia Kahn Wright

  • Attaching in Adoption by Debra Gray.  Had to read it as part of our fost-adopt training series.  It is awesome!
  • Thank you both so much!
