Shots/Runny Nose/Flying

Sorry to be a PW this morning but have a question about 6 month shot reactions and a WWYD question.

This morning has a runny nose. Did your LO have this?  I'm trying to decide if it is a cold or a reaction to the immunizations.

When her pedi checked her ears he said her right ear was a little dull. And since we are supposed to fly to DC on Tuesday he prescribed her amoxicillin. If this ends up being a cold I don't think we'll end up going because I can't imagine flying with a baby with a cold. She would be on antibiotic for 4 days prior but it worries me that she would have problems with her ears.

What would you do?

Re: Shots/Runny Nose/Flying

  • She should be fine if she's been on antibiotics for 4 days.

We had to fly the day after we found out DS had double ear infections (and pink eye to boot).  We were going to a family wedding so not going was not an option.  He had been on antibiotics for less than 24 hours and did fine on the plane.  He basically slept the whole way.  He was around 4 months at the time.

  • We flew once when S had a cold, didn't bother him a bit but I nursed him during takeoff and landing.  Don't remember if he had a runny nose after 6 month shots.
