DD (27 mos) is still in a crib. Usually very contently goes in her crib and doesn't resist/try climbing out.
Until today. and she needs a nap like no other.
Never used a crib tent...seriously considering trying one out-- I think last time I saw one in the store it was like $50. Should we just go to a toddler bed? Anyone else think their 27 month old wasn't ready for a toddler bed?
ugh.
Re: Ugh. DD chose today to climb out of her crib...
Both DS1 and DD did this. Once. Luckily, a freaked out look on my face when they came padding down the stairs and a very firm tone when putting them back to bed seemed to do the trick. If I hadn't been lucky, I would have bought a crib tent. Each older child had a younger sibling when s/he was still under 2 and I was not prepared to deal with a baby and a wandering, non-sleeping toddler.
DS transitioned to a toddler bed at 3 years and DD shortly before that. I made it dependent on when they weren't wearing pull-ups at night anymore so they could get up and use the bathroom independently if they needed to.
My three little ones
DS1 climbed out at 18 months and refused to stay in ever again. We used the crib tent for a month, but then we went on vacation without it, and it was a disaster. When we got back, he refused to sleep in the crib with or without the tent. We moved him to a bed. It did take a while for him to adjust, and eventually we had to let him cry, which was so much fun with a kid that could get out of bed and stand at the door.
DS3 climbed out once at 15 months, and busted his lip on the way down. He hasn't done it since. Maybe this will be a one time thing for you?
