I also posted this on 3-6 because my DS is 6 months monday, so I'll be moving over soon. I am flying this afternoon with my LO and trying to decide if I should just carry him (we flew to Iowa last weekend and just carried him - BUT my DH came them). Today its just us. If I take an umbrella stroller I am worried he will fuss and then I'll have to hold him anyhow and then I'll have a stroller to deal with. My diaper bag will be on my back so I won't have to deal with that and I am not taking a purse. What do you think? I am worried that if I just carry him and have to use restroom, etc that could be challenging. But, it is just a direct flight. What would you do?
I would take the stroller. You're going to need to be able to put him down at some point (bathroom, security to take off your shoes, etc). If he fusses, he fusses. I have flown twice with my daughter and when she cried, people were pretty understanding since she's still small.
Can't you both use a stroller and bring a carrier in case he needs to be held? You can check the stroller at the gate easy peasy and I would definitely want it in case carrying him gets tiring.
I am flying tomorrow and I plan on just having a backpack and a stroller and checking everything else.
I wore DS when I flew alone with him. It was easier for me than having a stroller...and I'm able to use the bathroom. I know, it is a special talent.
Happy Birthday, little man. We love you so much!

I flew alone with DD last month. I had the stroller with me on the way there and checked it on the way back. It was just a PITA to navigate through the airport with it and DD isn't a fan anyway. Do you have a carrier you could bring instead? I just wore her and was fine.
I am totally anti-stroller in airports. Even when traveling alone. The few times I've taken a stroller it's gotten so beat up and it's just an extra thing to deal with through security.
I have a huge rolling duffle with cinch straps (that I can hook the carseat on to get it to ticketing/check in), baby in an Ergo on my front, diaper bag backpack on my back, voila.
It's a little more challenging now with 2 since I have to deal with 2 carseats, but still not impossible since DD can have her own carryon and I have a rolling carseat bag for her seat. I can still do it on my own.
I wore L in an Ergo when I flew last month with her. It made getting through the airport painless, as they let me leave her in it to go through security even. I did wish I'd had my stroller, but not for the baby. The diaper bag and my camera bag I was carrying were heavy. But I had easy connections.
I have flown 5 times with DD, each time by myself and with a stroller. You will have to put LO down at some point. Plus you only have 2 arms, what about your purse, diaper bag and such? It will also help out in security. GL!

I flew alone with LO when he was just two weeks old. Don't take a stroller - it's just a hassle. Use a baby carrier! I had LO in a moby wrap and it was wonderful. He was cozy and happy, and I had the use of my hands to go to the bathroom, eat lunch while waiting at the airport, and I also had a carry on to pull.
