Do you make your bed in the AM?

Maybe I'm a slacker, but I stopped doing this awhile ago.  I tried one day recently and then my kids thought it would be fun to hide under the covers.  Why do I bother?  Before that, I think the last time we made the bed before work was before we had kids.

  • Before kids: Every morning

    Now: Never

  • Pretty much make my bed as soon as I finish my coffee.  I just don't like how the room looks when the bed isn't made.
  • Nope, never have.  I think it's pointless....I'm just gonna mess it up again that night and nobody is home to see it.

    Yup, this!

  • I because I am OCD cannot leave the house with an unmade bed!  Unfortunately DH bless his heart-leaves for work after me and to him making the bed means throwing the covers back into place, so I come home from work and remake it!  I know, I need to get over it Smile
  • Never have bothered. And DH is still sleeping some mornings when I leave the house, I doubt he would appreciate it if I did!

  • I LIKE a made bed, as I discovered after having to make it everyday for 2 months because our house was on the market.

But now that it's sold, I very quickly fell back to not making it.

If we're going to have company, I make it, but otherwise, I just don't bother.

  • Usually DH is still in bed when I leave in the morning, so no. On the rare occasions that he is up before I leave then I do make the bed.

I loved how our condos looked when they were for sale.  I think I would have to move somewhere else before I put my house up for sale now.  Or, give my kids 2 toys to play with total.

  • Only when we were showing our house for sale.  Otherwise, not since my mom made me when I was in high school.
  •  It's annoying doing it, but I hate coming home after a long day to a messy bed.  So I try and do it everyday.

  • My H is a freak about making the bed! If it were up to me... No, it would not get made!

  • I always make the bed, it's a habit now. But by "making the bed" I mean throwing the covers back and making sure they're straight, nothing fancy. DH is horrible with the bed, not only will he never fix it, but he somehow manages to tangle himself in the sheets every night so they are all in a ball by morning. I have to make the bed before I get it in when it's in that state!
  • No, I have to get up for work so early anyway, I just leave myself time to throw on clothes and run out the door. And when DH is working OOT, a lot of the time DS is asleep in my bed when I leave for work :)

  • The only time I make the bed is if someone will be seeing our bedroom - which is not very often!

  • Yes, of course! I can't imagine not making the bed. I do it right after I get up. Or if Dh gets up after me, he does it.
  • We have a big down comforter, so we each just pull our side up when we get out of bed, and voila, the bed is made!  Nothing fancy, but I hate it when it's not made.

  • If DH is out of town, yes.  I make my bed every morning.  It is no chore, I hardly mess up the bed when sleeping.

If DH is home, then no.  He gets up after me and destroys the bed every night.  He can make it (though he never does).

I don't bother with the kids' beds yet.

promised myself I'd retire when I turned gold, and yet here I am
  • Nope. I've never done it.
  • I pull the covers up to cover the sheets so the cats don't shed all over the place where I sleep.  LOL, does that count?
  • Frankly I don't. My husband is still asleep when I am leaving for the day. Even if that wasn't the case, I wouldn't. I have enough 'must do' things in my day that I'm ok with letting the little things slide.
  • Before we got married, I was a strict bed maker.  Now, not so much.  I probably will start making it again because I want to set a good example for our kids.  The room looks so much better with it made.
  • DH is usually still asleep so the bed never gets made, I make the bed now on the weekends because we got a new bedding spread and it looks really good.

I also read a while back that it's better to not make your bed so the sweat etc on the bed can air out vs being covered up.

  • Sometimes.  I like it made but sometimes I just don't get the chance.
