Is it Bad?

That whats keeping me awake tonight is the fact that we named our Son William a year and half ago, and we call him Liam, and no I'm wishing we could just drop the Liam and have everyone call him William???

Re: Is it Bad?

  • Have you considered trying to ease into calling him William?

I sometimes feel the same way about DS's name.  We call him "Larry" which is short for Loreto.

  • I have, and I feel like that would be the way to go about it.  I just feel like such a terrible mother for thinking this.  Like what a dumb move on my part.  Hey lets name him William and call him Liam.  Didn't think about how many weird faces I would get everytime I had to explain it.  The problem is we went into the hospital knowing we were gonna name him William and decided we would call him Will or Liam based on how he looked.  Well we started out calling him Will and day 2 the male nurse that came in to take care of us was this greasy haired guy named Will - I said no to Will right then and there!

Not to self, never decided a childs name after a hormone SURGE!

  • You have to explain to people that Liam is short for William? Weird.

I usually have to explain Evie is short for Evelyn, but I would think Liam would be a given.

  • Thats funny, cause I had Evelyn on my list for a girl and when I saw one of your posts and saw that you called her Evie, I thought it was soo cute.
  • Well, you can always call him by a nickname yourself, but introduce him as William, write William on holiday cards, etc.  Lots of people go by different names in different circles.
