Gonal-F

Well this cycle has pretty much been written off ... plus my CM was a tinge red before so that means AF is def. on its way.

My RE is upping me from 100mg of clomid to gonal-f and we'll be doing IUI when all along we've been doing a trigger shot with TI.

I'm wondering what others experience was like on gonal-f .. side affects?  how often do they have you in for monitoring? anything ...

Re: Gonal-F

  • I have only had success with Gonal-f. With DD we did 2 cycles and it worked! This time we're in the midst of our 2ww of our 3rd cycle...

Side effects: hormonal for sure, headaches, and that's all I really have experienced myself.

Monitoring is bloodwork and u/s to see if the follies are growing. If BW is increasing nicely, they may bring u in for u/s after a week or so, if the follies aren't ready they make continue you on same dose or up it a little, repeat BW and u/s until things look ready. When follies are 15mm or better they'll have u do Trigger and IUI! :)

I find it easy to use, easy to bring with me if I'm going to be out late, and it's worked once, so we're hoping it works again.

Good luck and if you have anymore ?s feel free to ask!

  • hmmm don't think i have any other questions right now, glad to hear it worked for you and good luck in your 2WW.

thankfully it seems tomorrow will be CD1 so we can get this show on the road.  i was getting antsy with the holiday coming up.

  • Thanks!

The waiting is one of the hardest thing about IF treatment...but it's well worth it in the end if it works!

I am still on the fence whether or not I want to take a break over the holidays or just continue as normal... it gets so stressful, not to mention time consuming with all the appts. Plus $$ is always tight at this time of the year!! "sighhh" we'll figure it out when we know for sure what's going on this time!

    I'm keeping my fingers crossed!!!

  • I used follistim, which is the same as Gonal-F and had many less side effects on it than on clomid.  Had I known that I would feel that way, I would have skipped clomid altogether.  The only downfall is that I get residual cycsts after any medicated cycle, so I always need to take a month off in between.  Lots of luck to you and hope you get your BFP this month.

  • wow that's got to be hard having to take a month off in between!

i've debated putting things on hold over the holidays but decided against it only b/c i think the cooking & shopping will be a good distraction for me.
