During our BF class they mentioned that you should wake your kid to feed in the middle of the night if they are not waking up to feed. I just have a hard time understanding this but can see if this was the case in the first couple of weeks/first month. But is this the case once they get older too? Thanks for the advice!

We had to wake K up after her two day wellbaby appointment when we found out she had lost more weight, she lost 12% of her birth weight and they worry after 10%. We had to wake her up every two hours and take her back to the doc for weight checks daily until she surpassed her birth weight.
They told us never to wake up to feed...since he ended up gaining all of his weight back it wasn't a problem.
Never wake a sleeping baby!!!! (That's my motto)
That being said, Caroline had no problems gaining weight and woke on her own to feed so we didn't have to worry about it. She rarely missed a meal!
