Trouble TTC

Insurance ?

DH and I are looking at our insurance plan options since open enrollment is upon us for 2011.  There are 2 new plans available which have some IF coverage, but I want to see if I'm understanding it right.  They both say:

"Two (2) cycles of infertility treatments per lifetime for medical with no dollar limit, and unlimited coverage on eligible drugs."

To me this means they will cover 2 IF procedures (IUI or IVF) with no $ cap.  Is that right?  Confused  Or could they possibly mean that you could try for 2 pregnancies max using IF treatments? (I'm inclined to think not, but who knows).  Any insight/advice would be great!

Re: Insurance ?

  • They will cover 2 IUIs or IVFs ( or a combo of the 2) with no $$ limit for the treatments or meds. 1 cycle = 1 IUI or IVF in the IF world. The way it reads, you may be able to do meds + TI without worrying about hitting those cycles, but you may want to verify it with the ins company just to be sure.

  • Gotcha.  I guess if we have to move on to ART we'll probably just skip to IVF if it's covered, especially since we're MFI.
