Parenting after a Loss

NBR: massage?

so i'm thinking about what i want for christmas and i'm thinking i might want a massage. but i know NOTHING about massages. i've never had one done by a professional. i'm not really into the whole "self-indulgence" scene. i'm definitely not into the whole holistic healing scene. i'm not interested in cleansing my aura or anything like that. i just want my back to be rubbed.

can anyone give me any tips? there's so many different kinds of massages out there-- swedish, deep tissue? what's the difference? what's a good amoount of time for a massage-- 30 minutes? an hour? what's a reasonable price to pay?

thanks in advance ladies!

Re: NBR: massage?

  • I would check around at different spas by you to see what kinds of massages they offer, but since you're a massage novice, I'd definitely avoid anything Swedish or deep-tissue.  Those are relatively hard-core.  Many spas have basic 30 minute or 1 hour massages, and in my area, those run the gamut from $50-$100.

  • I'd go for the 1 hour. Cost I'm sure varies, but I can usually find something for 80-125.  Check out spafinder.com maybe to find a spa or compare local prices.  Ususally a spa's basic or signature massage is the best price, and should suit your needs.  Enjoy!
