or whateverthefuck you call it. Not good for KU people? Apparently, there is a case in daycare and they felt the need to notify me because I am pregnant. Not that I can do anything about it. I can't not bring his to daycare. I cannot prevent his from catching it.

Somene just break it down for me. Basics, only. I see zero reason to freak out, but googling shiit like this for your self never works out the way you want it to.

hand-foot-mouth? Bug just had that like late September? Bug's pedi, and my peri both weren't concerned about me getting it. Said at worst I may get a sore throat. It's primarily a "childhood" thing. 10 and under

Bug just had a rash for a few days. She didn't seem irked by it at all. No fever, usual energy level and appetite.

Hand-foot-mouth is a version of it and there are types for the throat and eyes. Everything I've read makes no specific mention of a threat to pregnant women. I know it's highly contagious but my DS had Hand Foot Mouth and no adults around him got it. I wouldn't worry too much.

I thought you meant the town south of Albany. I was so confused! Why wouldn't it be good for KU people? Is the water or air contaminated? What does daycare have to do with it?

But then I read on and comprehension set in and I realized you were talking about the virus.

All I know is that it can cause meningitis and other nasty things. I'm not very helpful.

and apparently, it's one of those things that is contagious like a week before you actually see the rash. One of those wonderful things you don't know your child is being exposed to - until it's too late. :::sigh:::

good news there appears to be an immunity to it once you've had it. However, there are like 3 separate strains.

FYI... if they know about this at his daycare now, then the child that is diagnosed with it was probably contagious with it days ago. Chances are O is already exposed.
