I started looking for alternate daycare this morning. My MIL has offered to fly in to watch DS while I find the right place. I feel terrible ![]()
To answer some of the questions in the oriinal post - yes, I had checked the daycare out prior to sending DS there and I did call the state again today to make sure there haven't been any complaints filed (there were none). The bruises are on DS's head. He has gotten hurt at home before (he fell down inside of his crib) but a bruise has never stayed on as long as the last one from DC (still there since last Friday). He is pulling up all the time but then when he tries to cruise he sometimes looses his balance. The first time he hit his head at daycare, the DCP called right away and appologized a lot and moved things around so that DS would play away from any walls (he hit his head when rolling next to a wall). And then she never mentioned any other incidents until I pointed out the newest bruise. I also asked her yesterday why the other parents had left and one had been laid off so that sounded fine but another supposedly wanted her baby to go to the same daycare as her older kid - that one was a red flag to me because if that was the case, wouldn't her baby go to that daycare from the get go? (we live in a town with no waiting lists but even if there was one, it would not have been that long that her almost 1 year old would just now get a spot).
I know it's rediculous but I feel bad leaving because I think she means well and is nice and accomodating but at the same time I want the best for DS and my instincts are telling me to move. I feel that I may be overreacting but at the same time I'm not willing to take the chance. Ugh, I hate this.
Thank you all so much for your responses! And sorry this is so long.
Re: f/u Would you be concerned?
Thanks for the follow up and you do have to trust your instincts. What you posted today doesn't sound as bad as your post yesterday (because I think you said he has a bruise almost every day?) but I still think multiple bruises without your DCP calling you still is a problem.
FWIW, I don't think it's that strange for one of the parents to have moved her 1-year old to go to the same day care as her older child. I have a friend whose infant is at the same daycare mine DS is, but whose older child goes to a Suzuki daycare. The older child also was in our day care center until he was a toddler, and then he moved. My friend thinks that our daycare center is great for babies, but wanted a different program for toddlers. So it's not unheard of.
Good luck!
My twins are 5! My baby is 3!
