I took my girls to the Dr's the other day and here's what they weigh:
Charlotte: 19lbs9oz Maggie: 15lbs13oz
I was just going through their stats from their last appt and Maggie has only gained 8oz since April... The Dr wasn't concern. He said they like to see them triple their birth weight which she did. That just seems like such small amount of weight to gain in 6 months!! And she grown an inch and a half. Anyone else have such difference in their twins weight too? Charlotte is 4 lbs heavier!! That just seems like a lot to me....
Re: How much did your twins weigh at 1 year?
My girls were both just over 23lbs, but they are huge for their age. For example, Sarah was 31 inches, which is the 95th percentile for height. So I'm not sure they are an accurate gauge for other babies.
Here's a link to the CDC growth chart for baby girls. https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/nhanes/growthcharts/set1clinical/cj41l018.pdf
If you account for adjusted age, it looks like Charlotte is right in the middle range, but that Maggie is on the small side. But being on the small side doesn't mean anything to worry about, just something for the pediatrician to keep an eye on. If the Dr wasn't concerned you shouldn't be either, but I know that it is the major job description of a mom to be concerned about her kids, so it's easier said than done.
My boys aren't quite a year old, but they were weighed the other day. Leo was 15lb 7 oz and Drake was 17lb 17oz. I have a feeling that at 12 months Leo's going to be under 16 pounds still, and Drake will be a bit over 19.
I worry all the time about how tiny Leo is. There has always been a big size difference between them, but I was really hoping the gap would be smaller by now. Our pediatrician isn't too worried either, because even though he's tiny, he's always followed his growth curve. But I worry.
Molly was 23lbs and 28inches long (50% weight, something like 15% height)
Lilly was 22lbs and 27 1/2 inches. My kids are lil midgets
. Mine more than tripled their birth weghts of 5.4 and 4.13. Molly has always been a little bigger than Lilly. If you are worried about Maggie being little (and to me, 15lbs is really little) try to give her some more milk in her diet. Things like cheese and yogurt are good if she doesn't like to drink a lot during the day.
This is very late since I'm not able to log on much while I'm at work.
My boys just had their 1yr appt. They were 19lb 5oz & 18lb 2oz. They have always been 1-1 1/2 lbs different. Lawrence, my little guy, does seem so much smaller. Like PP said, since they've been staying on the same curve, my pedi wasn't worried. She did say that we could stay on formula longer if we wanted since they absorb that better than whole milk.
hth!
