I believe it is recommended to test during the afternoon because LH is produced in the morning. So it would make sense that you are getting negatives in the am and getting positives in the afternoon.

I have been noticing a lot of questions about these, including mine. It's my first time using them and I haven't had very good luck either (I posted about my situation a couple days ago) I think there is a method to what type of urine is best and what time of day, like not FMU and sometime in the middle of the day after holding your bladder for 4 hours. It's a little difficult for me to do that since I am at work most of the week during mid-day. For this cycle, I am trying to pay more attention to CM and temps. Good luck! I hope you figure it out!

Yes. I've been told and also read that the best time to take them is late afternoon - early evening for the most accurate result. That said, I've also been told to take them twice a day anyway, so you don't miss your surge just in case, as the result can vary throughout the day. So...get to BD'ing, girl!

This was my first month using opk's and I didn't get a positive even though I was testing 3 times a day right before O. But based on temps and cm I'm pretty sure I'm 4dpo, just waiting for my CH's.

the same thing happened to me. I got 2 positives, then a negative, then back to a positive. I did make the mistake of testing in the morning so I think that's what threw me off. This cycle I'm testing early afternoon and again in the evening. I also heard not to drink alot of water right before testing...GL to you!

ETA: Also, are you sure the first one was actually positive?
D'OH! Sorry - didn't retain that detail after reading through the whole thread.
