Cribs

Anyone buy a crib yet or have any suggestions?  I'm looking at Graco and DaVinci but want something that will hold up well since I'd like to get a convertible one.

Re: Cribs

  • We haven't purchased anything yet but we definitely want a convertible set.

  • we got the davinci emily crib with DS.  HATE it!  the changing table/dresser is really cheap and thin...it can slightly sway back and forth if you try to push it.  my DS has also kicked out 2 of the vertical slats from the crib...and it wasnt like he was laying there kicking at it for 1/2hr or anything!

although affordable...not quality.  we will be buying a new crib for #2 and probably junking this one (he is using it as the toddler bed right now...which is fine..even with 2 pieces missing!)

  • We have a Bonavita and love it.  Only drawback is the crib sides are curved which makes it very difficult for a moble.  We just converted to the toddler rail and once we move it will be a full size bed.  Looks just as nice as the day we got it nearly 3 years ago.

  • I purchased the Graco Lauren a couple weeks ago. I found it brand new on ebay, from a local store for $70 so I couldn't pass it up.

I have no real life experience with it yet, because it is still in the box. But I read a lot of reviews online and from the book baby bargains, so I figured it was worth a shot.

    Here We Go Again!!

  • We have this crib for DS.  I can't think of the full brand name but we got it from BRU and it's Koala something.  So far, its been great and it's a convertible set.

  • I'm not really sure yet. We want a convertable and we know we don't want it to be a drop side crib. I won't do anything Graco because they have had WAY too many recalls lately.

  • Were going with the Gulliver from Ikea. Its 100 bucks, sturdy, simple and cute. Plus if #2 comes shortly after #1 (tis the plan) they would look nice next to each other. I think its kind of silly to shell out 300 up on an comfortable crib when it going to get chewed on and beat up the first few years. I would rather go simple with the crib then invest in a nice quality bed later on that will last to the teenage years and beyond.

    Good Point ^^^

If I remember correctly I chewed the s**t out of my baby crib when I was teething, my parents kept it for the 3 of us, but that thing got beat up pretty fast.

I was originally going to get a convertible crib, but your post made me re-think that.

  • I'm not overly worried about it.  My baby is going to be sleeping in a bassinet by our bed until it's 3-4 months old.
