Babies: 3 - 6 Months

I think I'm in trouble.

I've been having a hard time pumping enough milk to keep up with DS's eating while I'm at work and we will be apart from this Thursday night to Saturday morning.  Sad  I bought some Enfamil yesterday.  I was reluctant to introduce formula since he's never had it before, but thought "We can't let him starve!"  I just want to supplement with it when necessary.  ANYWAY, DH tried to feed him some tonight, just to try it, and it was a no go!  He wouldn't take it.  Now what do I do?!?!?

  • Try mixing it 1/2 and 1/2 with BM. Just make sure to make small portions so you don't waste any! I had to supplement when I had a drop in my supply about 2 months ago and that worked for us. Don't feel bad! That was over 2 months ago and I'm still nursing! Also, I love your DS's hat! DH would die for a little boy to put that on! GL!

  • Keep trying.  Mix it w/ bm or switch brands if it is still a no go.

  • I went through this when we had to introduce formula to DD - she was underweight. At first, I gave her the formula bottle first when she was hungry and she would gobble it down then nurse - but don't do this more than a few times, because it effects your supply.

Though I wouldn't listen to me, my supply since I've been back at work is almost gone :(  Thankfully, she's happy with her mostly formula-part BM bottle.
