Ben just found out that he's being sent on a work trip for most of next week. He's been away for a week once before but I was still on full time leave then and I'm NOT looking forward to being on solo twin duty after working all day. And I'm mildly annoyed at his bosses for persisting in having this kind of stuff at another campus when our location is bigger (and if they had it here, fewer people would have to travel).
Secretly, I'm irrationally annoyed that he has a job that requires this for instead of staying him home with me and the boys forever and ever.
I also secretly wish that *I* had to travel occasionally for work so I could have a week long break (not to mention uninterrupted sleep for 4 whole nights!) and feel guilty for wishing that.

Re: dammit
this!
i'm sure i would be feeling the exact same way you are though - no need to feel guilty about it
This!
Though I did have a chance to go to Nashville last weekend for a conference, and I turned it down (and just found out that all the participants got free iPads....grrrrrr). I think MH would panic if I left him alone with H for a whole weekend! It's bad enough that I have parent-teacher conferences tonight (and last Thursday, too) until 8:00, and he has to be alone with him all evening and through bedtime!
definitely no need to feel guilty for wishing that! We all understand!
major props to you for doing all this without much family around. my mom said that with my twin brothers, my grandmother came over everyday for like a year to help her!
boo for that, but you gotta do what you gotta do.
and this made me LOL. I miss Jack a ton when I'm away but I'm (not so secretly) happy that a lot of my travel is to super nice resorts that include spas. I eat like a pauper so I can spend my per diem on massages or other treatments. Shhhh - don't tell DH. haha.
