Hawaii Babies

dammit

Ben just found out that he's being sent on a work trip for most of next week. He's been away for a week once before but I was still on full time leave then and I'm NOT looking forward to being on solo twin duty after working all day. And I'm mildly annoyed at his bosses for persisting in having this kind of stuff at another campus when our location is bigger (and if they had it here, fewer people would have to travel).

Secretly, I'm irrationally annoyed that he has a job that requires this for instead of staying him home with me and the boys forever and ever. Stick out tongue

I also secretly wish that *I* had to travel occasionally for work so I could have a week long break (not to mention uninterrupted sleep for 4 whole nights!) and feel guilty for wishing that. Embarrassed

Re: dammit

  • Yikes.  Good luck!  I can't imagine taking care of one baby by myself for a week, let alone 2!  Again, major props to single moms.  I could not do it.

  • Uninterrupted sleep sounds like HEAVEN! I bet part of him enjoys it and part of him hates being away from you guys. I work 12 hour shifts and I hate when I come home and Bella's asleep, then that means I don't get to see her all day! I can't imagine having to do one child alone, let alone two. Props to you for taking it all on and being strong about it. I would probably have a mental breakdown!

    This!

Though I did have a chance to go to Nashville last weekend for a conference, and I turned it down (and just found out that all the participants got free iPads....grrrrrr).  I think MH would panic if I left him alone with H for a whole weekend!  It's bad enough that I have parent-teacher conferences tonight (and last Thursday, too) until 8:00, and he has to be alone with him all evening and through bedtime!  Stick out tongue

  • definitely no need to feel guilty for wishing that!  We all understand!

major props to you for doing all this without much family around.  my mom said that with my twin brothers, my grandmother came over everyday for like a year to help her!

  • boo for that, but you gotta do what you gotta do.

and this made me LOL.  I miss Jack a ton when I'm away but I'm (not so secretly) happy that a lot of my travel is to super nice resorts that include spas.  I eat like a pauper so I can spend my per diem on massages or other treatments.  Shhhh - don't tell DH.  haha.

  • omg, MH was out on a business trip for 2.5 days and he just got back today and I'm SO relieved. I don't think I would've lasted much longer, so yeah, it sucks that Ben is gonna be gone for a week =(
