I always have a tough time with this, and I'm not sure what is considered too bulky for a carseat.
I've always used the Children's place jackets (I think they have thinsulate) and don't find them to be too bulky, yet I still have to loosen the seatbelt a lot to get DD in when she is wearing one.
What does your LO wear in the winter and who makes it? I'm wondering if I should just get DD a heavy fleece, rather then a winter coat
Re: What kind of jacket is best for carseat?
I was reading some safety information that suggested putting children in a fleece as opposed to a heavy jacket, because in the event of an impact, it would compress the materials, and leave more room (literally and figuratively) for injury.
I found DD's fleece jacket at Old Navy where they are currently have a 1/2 off sale- it seems pretty warm and snuggly:
I have heard that fleece is best too. Last year DD had a fleece zip up hoody jacket from lands end for the car. She also had a heavy winter jacket for playing outside or for more extended periods outside.
Thanks to the PP for the Old Navy PSA!
I use the version of this ON coat without the hood for DD.
