How many do you have to attend next year? Will you be avoiding them at all costs?
I have 2, and will probably only attend 1.
#1 DH's cousin who has been TTC for over 6 years, and had a ectopic and a m/c is due in February. She and I have gotten really close through this crazy IF journey so I will be flying out to Michigan in January for this one.
#2 Our friend from college - his wife is due in May. I posted about this a few weeks ago. DH was the best man in their wedding and I got the call from his wife that she's PG (we've spoken on the phone once in the 2 years I've known her - and they know our situation). DH had to finally call his friend to congratulate him. I'll probably opt out of this one if I can.
* PG #1 2/26/09: mm/c 4/14/09 at 10w4d | PG #2 8/5/09: mm/c 9/29/09 at 11w3d (boy) *
* CP's 4/14/10, 9/1/10, 4/19/11, 5/24/11, 10/14/13, 11/16/13 *
* Ectopic 1/17/14 - nothing on u/s at 6w4d *
* PG #7 BFP 12/21/11 - DD born 8/31/12 *
* DH Dx'd with balanced translocation in 2011 *
Re: S/O Baby Showers
I don't have any forecasted at the moment.
If it's not crazily out of the way & I really like the person, I always try to go. But last year I definitely opted out of the baby shower for my 42 yr. old co-worker who *WHOOPSIE* got surprisingly KU a month after I did, then kept on rubbing her belly in everyone's faces all of the time (even after she knew about my m/c) & said that the 20 lbs. she gained the first month was "all baby". Yeah, I conveniently had something else to do that day...
I think it's wonderful that you're making the long trip to be supportive of DH's cousin! And, FWIW, I would NOT be attending shower #2. Have DH bring his friend a gift. Maybe.
I'll probably be invited to a bunch of them, and I'm planning on going to NONE.
If hell freezes over and I ever get KU again, I'm not even going to have a shower. Holy crap, I hate baby showers with the fiery passion of a thousand suns.

Tell me how you really feel....
I go if booze is involved and I like the person who is spawning. If not, no thanks. I shall send you a gift card with my rsvp.
I have one this month that is weighing on my mind. It's my cousin who has PCOS and had to do 2 IUIs with oral meds to get this far. I should be gracious. I should consider her a comfort or an inspiration. But right now I don't. Right now I'm going to inject myself with more gonal-f so I can prepare for IUI #4. :0/

Oh, you're so right. I totally forgot about the adult beverage coefficient! That does have a bearing on my attendance. Most definitely.
