Pregnant after a Loss

Birth Story and PIP of Jack (sorry it's long)

Hi everyone. I thought I would take a quite minute to post a quick birth story and pic for you all.

On Sunday October 31 at 1245am I woke up and went to the bathroom. I found that I was spotting. Very strange considering I have had absolutely 0 spotting this whole pregnancy. I called the advice nurse in L&D and she said it is probably from the large amount of BH I had the day before and to either take a walk and see if they get stronger or try to get some rest. So DH and I went for a walk at 2am.

I was having mild contractions but nothing I couldn't live through and they weren't close together. The entire day (halloween) I was having random contractions. Some were just uncomfortable and some were actually painful. By that evening when the trick or treaters came around I was able to time them. They were definitely stronger and every 7-10 minutes apart.

We headed to bed and I spent the entire night contracting. When I was lying down it felt like someone was stabbing me in the back but they were only every 9 minutes apart. I finally got up and did a little swaying (which helped) and they were still painful but not concentrated in my back. When standing they were every 2-4 minutes apart. At 5:00am (November 1) I woke DH up and said it was time to go.

We got to L&D and got hooked up to the monitors. It sucked because I had to lay down so they were more painful. Doctor came in and checked me. I was only 2cm! I wanted to cry. He checked under the microscope to see if my water may have broken. Thank God it had. They admitted me.

I spent the next 9 hours laboring. We walked the halls, swayed back and forth and had to be on the monitors for 20 minutes at a time every 35 minutes. I dreaded this because of the back pain. The MW said that it was going to be a long process since I was only a 2 after laboring at home for over 24 hours.

By 4:00pm I was in a lot of pain. I could no longer just close my eyes and breath through them. I couldn't help it but I would close my eyes, breath and cry. They didn't want to check me because they didn't want to risk infection since we weren't sure when my water broke, but finally the MW came in. I was at 7cm! I was so relieved. I was afraid I would only be a 4 or something rediculous like that.

I asked for the epi. I was exhausted because I hadn't slept the 2 nights before and physically just exhausted from the pain. The Fentinol that they had given me did nothing, but the epidural was magic. I felt so much better and was able to relax. They checked me a half our later and was 10cm. In a half hour I went from 7 to 10. It was awesome. They decided to just let the contractions do their thing to move him down since he was still so high.

At 7:00pm I started to push. They were the "practice" pushes to see how I would do. I pushed speradically for a half hour and at 7:29pm, at the exact same moment that Brian Wilson threw the last strike out of the World Series, Jack came into the world. We joke that he just wanted to make sure the Giants won before making his debut (and yes we had the game on the entire time I was pushing and delivering)

If you made it all the way through that, props to you. I meant to right a "short" version but apparently that didn't work.
