creative ladies come in, I need to fix a pair of jeans

I got these for DS a while back and have lost the receipt. They still fit in the waist but are way to short for him, so I was thinking about sewing a new cuff for them and they'll look like those pants that have contrasting lining and are turned up. What do you think?

I was planning on just ripping the hem out of the jeans and add on the cuff, will that work?

  • Here's an idea:

Cut off the hem from about 1/4 of an inch above the stitching.  Sew on thick contrasting material (needs to be the thickness of the jeans to look/hang/feel right) inside out (fabric inside out, seam towards you) twice the length of what you need to bring them to the correct length.  Sew the removed hem to the end of the fabric.  Fold them up so they are the correct length and the "pretty" side of the fabric is facing you.  Stitch them in their new location to keep them from rolling down.
