Trying to Get Pregnant

Re: FFFC

  • My DH has some known serious health issues that have a very good chance of impacting sperm quality. His doctor told him in no uncertain terms that if we are not KU after 4-5 cycles, he should get an SA (but no action necessary for me).

So it makes me feel bad when people get flamed for going in for testing early. Because every situation is different.

I honestly do not get the big deal about preggo and preggers. I do not use the word myself (nor do I say KU), but I can't wait for someone to say  "OMG I am so excited that you are preggers!!" I think the use of the word has nothing to do with class standing or education level.  They are slang terms, period.

I often want to tell constant ventors and complainers to read "The Secret", "The Four Agreements", or attend a Landmark Workshop/Seminar but I know it is not my place. Plus usually if you suggest something to someone who is upset they will only find reasons why it won't work for them.

i LOVE the The Four Agreements.  i read it so long ago.. i think i may break that out again this weekend.  Great read.  Never read the secret though.

It really is an amazing book, I just read it this summer.  It is very much in line with other workshops and things I have attended.

I break out the secret whenever I am in a rut. I can just land on any page and it seems to be right on point.

We tested early, but it was because of the same thing- DH had some already known health issues. We did discover that he had serious hormone issues and are now seeing an RE. So you will get zero flames from me. If you know there may be an issue- I vote you go early. At least then you'll know what you're facing! Good Luck to you :)

I think the board is sometimes too quick to jump in and call posters stupid and insult them. Guess what? I was that stupid once. I found this board when I was having phantom symptoms and thought I was KTFU, having no clue about how my body worked. I was smart enough to lurk first, but I think we've all been there. Just because you know what you know now doesn't meant those who don't deserve to be attacked.

I could not agree with you more on this one. We were all clueless newbies at one point. Smile I just don't respond if I get particularly annoyed at any given post.

Mine is probably one that I'll be a minority on, but I don't really care. lol. I seriously don't see why certain terms are such a huge no no here. You say preggo, I say pregnant. You say BD, I say sex. It just seems really petty to me to point out every time someone used a word that you don't prefer to use yourself. ::shrugs::

Completely agree.  Very petty, just read it and let it go, no need to point out every word that is wrong.  It all means the same thing.

    • Work sucks!
    • I have not been able to Bump all week.
    • Note to Body: Ovulate or let AF arrive.  END THIS LONG CYCLE!!!

For the most part, people who get flamed for going in for testing before the 1 year mark are those that are just impatient. If you have a pre-existing condition, then it makes absolute sense to start testing earlier.

But to go in for testing just because it has been a handful of cycles and you have no known issues, is unnecessary and can be a detriment to those who actually need testing.

That is totally different. If there is a reason for early testing, there is nothing to be flamed for. It's when people say things like, omg I thought I would be KU on my first cycle. There must be something wrong. Or, my sister had problems so I must too.

    Here is mine:

I really don't like the call outs for typos or spelling errors.

People are not automatically dumb, because they don't know how to spell a certain word. All the call out accomplishes is that the person who misspelled something feels extra stupid. And all others are chiming in and making fun of this person, I hate to see that.

    Thank you for this.

This may also be FFC but I love when regular posters make statements that go against the "norm" of the board.  I think it helps the newbies and others feel like they don't have to be as scared to post

    This.

  • Even though I know all the facts (well most of them) about the chances of getting pregnant each cycle, I was still shocked that it didn't happen for us on the first try. For some reason I thought that we would be the exception, since our timing seemed to be really good, and my chart was ideal...

I have been posting on here for at least 6 months (while we were TTA), I should have known better!

ETA: And I should add that, while I was shocked that it didn't happen, I was a little suprised that I wasn't as sad as I thought I would be about it.

Once the worse (ER trip for dehydration and more needles than I like plus the sickness) was over, I enjoyed not cooking, cleaning, taking the dog out, and laying around all day. Hello, role reversal.

I agree with you on the TTGPPS blog. Although I think it will be like the other bump post secret site and it will die down. It's new so everyone is going to be checking it, but it will get old and lame fast. It may even die out faster than the others b/c really how many secrets/call-outs can there be from just this one board?

    That's my hope anyway.

And other things along the same lines. I personally wouldn't bite anyones head off if they say preggers unless their whole post is full of stupid, not just that word.

    1. I give the TTGP post secret a major Hmm.  I bothers me that they were posting call-outs that discuss people's ability to get pregnant.  That being said, they have removed said post and added a "3rd rule".  I do not intend to check it out anymore and I hop that it will go away.
