Last month DS had a yeast infection along his inner thighs. We treated it with Lotrimin AF and slowly it went away. Well, now he has one along the top of his diaper spreading up his belly.
So, short of taking him back to the doctor (which I still might do) I have read up on vinegar or bleach baths. They sound pretty simple. Anyone have experience with this or ever heard of it?
Re: Vinegar or bleach bath?
VERY diluted. Most sites compare it chemically to a swimming pool. But yeah, I probably wouldn't do the bleach thing...
I didn't see anything about baking soda...will check that out. I did find a "recipe" for vinegar and water mixture that can just be applied during diaper changes. I think I will try that. I just hope it doesn't itch. My poor baby. We really are trying everything!
Yeah I read somewhere...maybe here that the baking soda makes the yeast hard to survive. I guess yeast prefer a more acidic environment and the baking soda is basic.
My DD is fighting a yeast infection as well and we are trying to use Tea Tree Oil in the wash and in her diaper spray (I cloth diaper) I washed everything in hot water and put Tea tree oil in the rinse. We are also using Nystatin cream on her and on me. This stuff is so hard to kick. I plan to try vinegar next.
This is what my pedi had us use on DD when she had a yeast infection rash on her bottom.
