I had it with my first and then while pregnant with my second I had antepartum depression and then got PPD with the second too.
The only good thing is that there is no guarantee that you will have it with the second baby and hopefully you will be in a better position to recognize it if you do get it.
DH was the one to realize that I had it after DC#2 so that was helpful in the sense that we had both been through it before.
I had it both times. With my 2nd, my OB wanted to start me on meds during my 3rd tri. I was feeling great so declined. She checked about meds right after delivery but I also felt great. Even at my 6 week post partum appt I told her I was AOK and then BAM 8 weeks out it hit hard. (Oddly, that was the same time it hit the hardest with my 1st) So I started meds at 8 weeks and had a pretty rough month adjusting them and waiting for them to kick in (could not take what I took the first time around -- bad reaction - weird.)
I was told that the odss are 60% of a repeat occurence. I know my PPD(which is really more PP Anxiety) is brought on my the drop in estrogen fro delivery. I feel great pregnant. and the only other times I have felt similar is when I stopped the Pill to try and get pregnant (both times). Knowing thgis now, I probably wouyld have started meds when she suggested. Just stay in tuine with yourself. GL!
