non dairy recipes

I know this has been posted before, but does anyone have any good non dairy recipes or a link to some.  So far I have been eating a lot of sandwiches (without cheese ofcourse).  Tonight I am making taco salad.  I'm so sad because we have a lot of freezer meals left, but they all have cheese or dairy in them.  Oh how I miss dairy....

Re: non dairy recipes

  • my sis is lactose. We just cooked the same food (miss the obvious dairy reciepes- mac and cheese) with rice milk, 100% veg margine and other soy substitues (example sour cream). My family prefers rice b/c it doesnt discolor your food (like mashed potatoes). We even have a dairy free ice cream. (same family homemade recipes but we use rice milk, and soy creamer.)

If you are ok with lactose free stuff: there is breyers lactose free ice cream ,and there is a brand-dont remember which one- of lactose free cottage cream.

Since its cold: chili, pot roast and veggies, chicken soups, lots of tomato based foods, stir fry (i make a lrg ham, cook it: night 1 ham and potatoes, night 2: cube the ham and stir fry with frozen veggies, add soy sauce and plate over rice)

  • We usually eat a stirfry a week, black beans and rice, lentil soup, a pasta dish with a fun sauce (mushroom sauce, puttanesca, etc..), fish cooked in a variety of ways. I miss cheese sooooo much, so sometimes I buy Daiya fake cheese from Whole Foods. Its like, $4.50 a bag but it actually lasts awhile and you can barely tell the difference when the cheese is in a recipe. Good luck!

  • We do a lot of stirfry. Crockpot recipes like pulled pork, mexican chicken, and pot roast are good too.
