Hi all,
I really never got headaches unless I was dehydrated before, but I have had a headache for two days. I also had one probably 3 weeks ago as well that was bad. Is anyone else experiencing this? I am concerned about high blood pressure, but my numbers have been normal at my appointments??
Re: headaches at 18 weeks
headaches are very common in 2nd tri due to a surge or hormones I think, or maybe it's a leveling off. Either way, common.
You get concerned about headaches when they are not relieved with tylenol, rest and hydration.
Me: 31, DH: 34, Married 5/29/05
BFP #1: 6/22/10, EDD 3/6/11, DS born 2/25/11 @ 38w5d
BFP #2: 7/27/13, EDD 4/9/14, CP 8/3/13
BFP #3: 8/31/13, EDD 5/10/13, DD born med-free 5/9/14 @ 39w6d
I have gotten plenty of rest, drink tons of water, and taken tylonel (but am trying to limit that). I went to bed with it and woke up in the morning. I don't really drink caffeine.
I am not really asking how to make it go away (though that would be nice), more should I be concerned about high blood pressure etc? or if it is realtively normal?
headaches that do NOT go away with TYLENOL are cause for concern. yes.
But dont be a moron, take the tylenol.
A headache that does not go away with interventions is worrisome sometimes. So before you call your doctor, take some medicine and drink some caffeiene.
Thanks Valerie...I will def. mention it to my OBGYN. Is there anything specific to be for watching past 20 weeks?
Typically for me also, but this is the recommendation of most doctors when dealing with a persistant headache and when it becomes a warning sign for other things.
When I was dealing with pre-e, I had to call everytime I got a headache not relieved by tylenol, rest, caffeine.
My point is a headache that doesnt go away with some intervention usually warrants a call to the doctor.
severe and persistant headache, sudden swelling in hands and face, visual floaters or flashes, pain under rib cage on right side, high BP, protein in your urine are all signs of pre-elclampsia.
Sarah is correct, any of these symptoms past 20 weeks and I would call the DR. My best advise though is to try not to worry about these things and enjoy being pregnant.
I have gotten headaches since pretty much day 1
I drink a ton of water anyway, and have upped it for pregnancy. I hate when people (my OB included) recommend a nap or a bath to make me feel better. I HAVE A JOB PEOPLE!!! My tests have also come back great, so the only cause at this point seems to be the dreaded "Hormones" gah!
I do find that ICE COLD water helps (instead of a cool bottle) and that getting up and walking around (away from my computer monitor, preferably out in fresh air) helps a little.
