I gained my 1st Pound(edited to clearly state purpose)

I know it's not a big deal, and that your body is supposed to gain weight, but I was doing so good sticking to my pre-BFP weight!!

I gained about 10 lbs the two months before I got pregnant, so I thought my body would wait for a little while longer and use those ten pounds first.

Well, I guess it means I'm back to veggies and fruits now that I can stomach them again!

The point of this post is to: Piss some people off!

Re: I gained my 1st Pound(edited to clearly state purpose)

  • I feel ya. I was hoping to hold out on gaining because of my pre-preg weight...but I guess it's bound to happen. The only thing we have control over is not gaining waaay too much weight and making it harder on ourselves.

...and fruits and veggies can be fun! I've been making lots of fruit smoothies...and raw veggies are delish dipped in esperansa dressing or hummus.

  • I don't get the point of your post. I've gained way more than one pound, and so now I'm just supposed to be eating fruits and vegetables? Give me a break.

How does that qualify me as cranky? I'm simply stating that it's stupid to think you have to eat differently now that you've gained a pound. Should fruits and vegetables be part of a balanced diet? Of course, and even moreso now that you're pregnant. Genetics play a huge roll in how quickly and when you'll gain weight during your pregnancy, so don't be shocked when down the road you pack on 5+ pounds in a month even though you were "just eating your fruits and vegetables."

Well that would have been a nicer thing to post than telling PP to give you "a break". For pete's sake...Confused You didn't say that at all. So you didn't "simply state" anything.

So I guess I need to explain all of my posts down to the very last gritty detail to make sure that people like you can figure out exactly what I was saying?

The reason it makes you cranky is because I didn't ask how much you gained, this wasn't a poll, I'm not comparing myself to anyone. More than one pound is okay for you, not for me. Genetics play a huge roll in how quickly we all gain!

The People kindly request that when you make a post you clearly state at the end the exact point of the post.  If you would simply conclude every post with "The Point of This Post is...." you would save many a Bumpees heartburn.

    Thank You.

But wait. Should we be angry that you gained a pound? ...or that you're concerned about it? Aaaaah! Too many things to be peeved about...so little time.

My doctor will kick my a$$ if I gain 5+ pounds in one month. I'm at a normal, healthy weight and I want to stay that way, my doctor is all about that too.

Elisbu - I can't stomach veggies, but I"ve been eating applesauce like crazy. I'm hoping I can get back to a normal diet soon, I feel like all I've been able to eat is unhealthy crap!

  • Someone's pissed because they already gained a little too much.

Not to get involved in this, but why in the world would your doctor kick your a$$ if you gained 5+ pounds in one month??? It is actually completely normal for that to happen in one month - possibly you are not aware of that. It wouldn't be good or normal to gain 5+ every month, but it would be very natural to gain that some months, especially in the middle of the pregnancy. The gain doesn't just go up gradually - it takes leaps up some months and is flatter others. I don't want to be rude but you seem to be mocking the girl who said it was normal by saying your doctor would kick your a$$, and frankly, she is correct.

  • I'm confused.  Gaining 1 pound in 12 weeks doesn't seem like a lot at all.  I found out I gained .5 pounds at my appointment and was pleasantly surprised considering I thought I would have gained more because I've been super hungry lately.  In any given day your weight can fluctuate 3-5 lbs depending on the time you step on the scale and what you've eaten so far. I don't even count 1 pound as a weight gain.

I don't think pp is really that upset. She just was saying since she gained 10lbs right before getting pg, she was hoping to not gain at all in the 1st tri. It's not a blanket statement, just one about her and her own situation.

FWIW- This is the impression I got as well. I didn't think she was upset or saying she was going to freak out and diet. I just assumed she meant she was going to try and eat a little healthier to keep the extra pounds at bay (since she had gained 10lbs right before BFP) for a little while.
